Most hospitals now have digital x-ray systems, these units have been available for mobile use for several years. A special “plate” is used in the x-ray cassettes instead of film. The “plate” stores information in tiny pixel units when the x-ray is taken and then is released as an image after digital processing. The image is stored on a computer and sent to the radiologist for a reading.
Some advantages of digital x-ray:
- No hazardous chemicals
- Less patient radiation
- Fast digital storage and image
retrieval - Multi-image manipulations for precise interpretation
- High quality images
Doctors and Nurses now have the option of viewing x-ray images and reports through our secure PACS server network.
Authorized users have access to this information 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
